Jerome, Idaho, March 29, 2025

Legislative District 26, made up of Jerome, Lincoln and Blaine County Republican precinct committee members met at the Jerome Public Library to discuss, hear from Representative Jack Nelsen and then vote on a resolution for censure. The resolution for censure was crafted and passed by Lincoln and Blaine Republican Central Committees. The resolution lists 35 “whereas” statements where Nelsen is in contradiction to national and Idaho Republican platform and rules.

All District 26 precinct committee members, Representative Jack Nelsen and Region Chair, Mike Matthews, were notified and invited to attend. Representative Jack Nelsen did not respond to the notification and did not attend. Nine of twelve Jerome Republican precinct committee members chose not to attend as well.

The agenda at the check-in table showed a spot for Nelsen to speak to the censure and explain why he votes as he does. The Legislative District Committee meeting lasted a short 15 minutes consisting of an overview of the censure, motion to censure, second and a vote on the motion. The 20 present committee members voted 18 for censure, one no, and one abstention.

Ninety percent of the members present censured Representative Jack Nelsen for casting votes on legislation that are contrary to the principles and policies of the national and Idaho Republican parties, thereby failing to uphold the values and commitments expected of Republican party representatives.

It’s no coincidence that RINO Nelsen was endorsed by Idaho Association of Commerce & Industry (IACI). Read How Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry is Turning Idaho Blue.
