Sadly, MVLA received no responses to last week’s posting of this CALL TO ACTION. So, we are appealing again to all parents, grandparents, concerned citizens and churches to take a stand against pornographic books in our public schools and public libraries under the guise of “teen fiction.”
As MVLA News has already reported in Idaho Offers Porn Literacy to K-12 Students, Idaho’s Pride, and Idaho’s Pride: Part Two, Idaho has an obscenity and explicit sex-ed problem needing your immediate action.
MVLA needs a team of people to help provide evidence of this material in Twin Falls, Kimberly, Buhl, Jerome, Gooding, Wendell, and Filer public and school libraries. This evidence is needed to provide hard facts when proposing legislation to ban this material from Idaho schools and public libraries.
Parents, pastors, and congregations need to expose this for what it is: pornography marketed to teens. Here’s how.
THE PLAN
Armed with this evidence, we intend to present the following proof to Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador with the aim of enforcing Idaho’s existing Indecency and Obscenity Statute 18-4101.
How to collect evidence at school and public libraries
Before you begin, contact us to let us know you want to help. We also have tips on interacting with librarians. Email us at news@mvlibertyalliance.org. We will contact you.
To avoid duplicating the efforts of our volunteers, MVLA has made an online spreadsheet of titles of each school district and public libraries to be searched. All volunteers will be able to enter data as they go, and view progress of other volunteers in real time. Each volunteer can make entries of their findings. Titles to be searched for are listed at the end of this article.
SEARCHING ON LOCATION
- Search for a title by last name of author on the shelves. Please note, due to popularity, some titles may be checked out.
- Ask the librarian for assistance if necessary. (If it is a public library, ask if there is an opening on the library board, how to apply for it and consider volunteering for the position.)
- Take a picture of the book/or other format that includes the name of the library on it. See example below.

- Make note of what section in the library it was found. This will help us bring facts when testifying on a proposed bill to ban porn from Idaho schools and libraries.
- Make note of how many copies there are.
- Enter comments about the book in the spreadsheet.
SEARCHING ONLINE
- If your public library allows online cataloging and search, search for one of the offending titles by the FULL NAME of the author.
- As shown in the example below, take a screenshot of the book, making sure the picture includes the name of the library. That’s all there is to it!

MAKING A PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST AT YOUR SCHOOL DISTRICT
If a public school librarian indicates that it is not possible for citizens to check out a book, it may be necessary to file a public records request from your school district.
Don’t worry, it’s super easy!
- For Twin Falls School District, you can visit their website to find their Policy Manual. The Twin Falls School District form can be downloaded by clicking on the Community Relations link, and is shown below. Other districts may differ, so call the district for assistance if needed.
- Check the box at the top of the form that you want “to examine” the following records (books).
- Take a picture of the book with the name of school.
- Delivery of the request form to the school district is required in person. According to the policy form, the district is required to notify you when the request has been granted within 3 working days.

SUBMITTING YOUR FINDINGS
Simply email your pictures and info to MVLA at news@mvlibertyalliance.org. A Board member will reply with a big THANK YOU, and may have a few follow-up questions, if needed.
EXTENDED DEADLINE
Email your findings no later than Tuesday, February 7th. Many thanks!

[…] The Magic Valley Liberty Alliance has posted an article explaining their plan to remove what they call pornographic books from their local public schools and libraries. That article can be read on their Substack, here. […]
This is really awful. Banning books has a terrible history with a terrible ending. Banning books is for cowards and oppressors. I hope no one answers this ludicrous “call” as it reminds us of 1930’s Germany. Ya’ll should be ashamed!
There is a difference between sexually explicit content and banned books from 1930’s Germany. Banned books in Germany included books written by pacifists, communists, or freemasons. Books written by Jews were also banned. The idea being Germans were banning IDEAS vs. the fact that inappropriate content should not be disguised as “child friendly” and made available to unsuspecting teens and small children. Would you allow your child or grandchild to watch porn? There is little difference between watching it and reading it. You should have your facts straight before making a blanket statement about “banning” books. These books are still available for informed parents to purchase for their child, if they so wish.
Are adults supposed to protect children in any way? Have you read these books? Would you let a 5 year old read graphic sexual books? Is there a balance between free speech/publishing and age appropriate protection?
